RAIN born in 1980 by the will of Luciano "LUCIO" Tattini (guitar) and Gianni Musso (drums).

Soon Claudio Ghermandi (bass) joins the band, followed by Giampaolo Menetti (vocals) so creating a punk-metal social/political/idiot band. And with this line up absolutely no one notices them (zero musical skill, zero promotion).

The first goals come when Giampaolo Menetti quits, and enters Nazario Nonni (guitar, back vocals). Tattini starts to sing and Rain play a good Heavy with some pale musical ability (end of '81) . At the beginning of '82, caused by quarrels, the band is about to give it all up, and only Tattini is determined to go on.The band arise again and officially plays heavy metal. ( '83).

This the line-up: Luciano Tattini (guitar, back voc.), Luca Toppini (drums), Luigi Navarino (voc.),with a helping hand from William Garbo (guitar/singer from LIBRA) and a mercenary bass player. In 1983 the personal skills as musicians are really refined, they write some good songs with a good sound and feeling, new to the band, (e.g.: Knock-Out, Born to Kill, My Memories Song, The Court of the Queen, all songs nowadays in the live tracklist of the band). During this period, Rain begin to be well known in their hometown (Bologna), but between the end of '83 and the beginning of '84, Toppini and Navarino quit , Tattini sings again, Musso comes back at the drums and William keeps on helping; but what's more important comes in the definitive bass player: Gianni "GINO" Zenari.

So during '84-'85 Rain have finally a settled line up: Luciano Tattini (guit./back voc.) Gianni Zenari (bass), Luca "TOPPI" Toppini (drums) a new singer, Sandro "UDO" Ventura and Giuseppe "JOSEPH" Bosi (guitar). The band recors a demo tape, "Bad Situation" (1984) that is distributed as a gift to the closest fans. And with the same line up the band produces a second demo tape, "The Rain's Coming" (1986), which earns very good reviews on the magazines of that period. In 1988 the band feels that an own studio is needed, and the dream comes true when, thanks to the toils of Lucio and Gino, the "FOSSA", Rain's general headquarter - studio - bar is born.

At the beginning the studio worked even for other bands, such as Abighor, while today is exclusively Rain. But... The drummer Toppi quits, and Andrea "JACK" Cavani takes his place. Rain start recording their first vinyl LP, "Ten Years After", and as usual studio work brings problems: Joseph (gtr) leaves the band at the beginning of the recording sessions, and the singer "Udo" at the end. The recordings go on, the master tape is ready in '90 and the LP is out in '92. The usual Rain slow motion... During the recording Edoardo "EDO" Di Palma (sound eng.) joins the band, 1990, the steel plated throat Alessandro "TRONCO" Tronconi takes the place of the singer (1990) and Marco Valianti gets in as second guitar in 1991.

With this line up Rain turn out towards a melodic Hard Rock and place the corner stone for a new album. The story remains the same: in 1993 the drummer Jack quits the band after a gig followed by a fight, so the new album , "Red Revolution" will be recorded with the help of Piergiorgio "PIERGI" Tesini (Urban Fight, still playing in that band). The album is mixed in '94 and is out in '95. Not so bad...

And here we are again: Valianti has to go to live into a far distant town, and regretful leaves the band. Again, Rain start seeking out for musicians 'till Andrea "MARIO" Baldi in1995 becomes the final drummer, while at the guitar they pass through: Matteo "MATT" Gherardi (1995), Vittorio "VIC" Corbisiero (1996) e Fabio "MALMSTINO" Benericetti (1997), a live album is recorded ( still unreleased) and in 1998 they're all back in studio for a new album. As a Rain greatest classic, during the recording of "Bigditch 4707", Malmstino leaves the band. In the same year Jacopo "JAK" Ghisolfi joins the band as author of the lyrics and cover illustrator, and Alessio "AMOS" Amorati takes the place of the missing guitar player.

The album is finished in 1999 and is out in 2000, reaps very good reviews and marks the beginning of the Rain web era. After two hot live seasons ( e.g. supporting ex Maiden Paul Di Anno italian tours in '01 and '02) , the band is back in studio again, workin on "Headshaker". Total running time: 23 years... RAIN STILL GO ON !!!

Interview with Rain

Only For The Rain Crew

When the Rain crew loose control
Smash the drums, the speakers wall
Gonna crack the guitars necks
Gonna burn the cable rack

I need the staff to feel allright
For the fuckin’ riggin to survive
So I sing a song

For the crew, for the Rain crew
Keep this band alive
Only for the Rain crew
The strongest will survive

When the Rain crew’s got no booze
Set the wickedness let loose
Overtaken by despair
Cries and howlings fill the air
