An opening riff is fantastic - it get's me every
time, he, he, he ... This song was evolving and
changing from gig to gig. For example in early
incarnations there was no this first solo, only
first verse. In one moment I was considering blast
beats under second solo! Well, maybe I'll do it
some day live, he, he, he ...
Lyrics were written under the gun, well under
Pawel's guitar actually, he, he, he ... Once he
dropped in and said, that bringing three lyrics
for tomorrow's rehearsal would be cool. Yeah,
piece of cake! Luckily, I had 'Desideratum' ready
and he brought his old lyrics that became 'Raise
your Ears' later. So only 'Ligeia' was written
from the beginning that evening. I was writing
on some dirty table, while he was hanging over
my head with his acoustic guitar and humming melody,
just in case he would forget, he, he, he ...
'Ligeia' reflects my fascination in Edgar Allan
Poe's art. As far as I'm considered, he means
for horror literature, what Black Sabbath means
for Metal. Maybe today he is not scary or something,
thou his genius is undeniable. He created something
from nothing.

Ligeia
In the fire , in the rain
I live by myself
Reaching deepest depths of hell
Breath of ages from the past
Keeps my sanity apart
Touching stone cold, dying heart
And I would die for you, living for remembrance
And I would lie for you, praying for my death
And I would cry for you, summoning your demons
And I would kill for you, but kill her for myself
Sight of your eyes turning still
And this pale look of your skin
Caused this emptiness I feel
Words of oath still hit my ears
Something's coming, creeps and nears
Air is moving, twists and swirls
Haze of opium in my head
Lady's body on the bed
She is moving, she's not dead
Hair like raven's feather's shine
Pure obsidian in her eyes
No, Ligeia, you're alive!
